Requried to do this by uni

There's a reason I left Blogger. It's a bit rubbish. Tumblr's the place to be really, but I digress. Questions I must answer!
  1. What has been your interest and experience of media to date? Initially I wanted to be a music journalist (well after childhood dreams of being an archaeologist, fireman and wrestler), fuelled by dreams of working for NME and not being able to form a band with anyone. This led me to set up my music/tv/film/pop culture blog Hitsville U.K. (http://hitsvilleuk.tumblr.com, shameless self-promotion eh?) in 2008 which has been stop-start for a while but is finally running smoothly and regularly (151 followers and ~14,000 hits in four months ain't too shabby). The journalistic interest led me to taking Journalism & English Li at UCLAN, which turned out to be quite awful. I left the uni after a year and went to Liverpool Community College to do a year of film & media studies. The course opened my eyes into the "wonders" of the media industry i. e. actually making, creating, crafting film, something I'd never had the chance to do before in a serious capacity or in any depth. Excluding practice exercises, I helped to make two short films, directing and acting in one and editing the other, and two film trailers, acting in one and recording sound for the other.
  2. What would you like to be in the future? Whilst a career in writing about music/film/tv is a path I'd love to go down and still an option thanks to the continued existence of Hitsville, my main ambition for the future would have to be a director. For someone as socially awkward and quiet as myself, controlling the entire making of a film may seem like an odd choice for a job, and when I think about it too much the task does seem quite daunting. But I would love to be able to be a part of the film industry and have an outlet for my creativity etc. Alternatively, I always enjoyed the editing process in college, and that would be an equally interesting career,
  3. What media are you interested in as both consumer and producer? As a consumer, I'm mostly interested in film, music, television, social media, music blogs and other popular culture/media websites. As a producer, my interests are pretty similar: I love being involved in the film-making process; I play guitar, thus having an interest in creating music, obviously; I founded and edit Hitsville U.K. and have also been involved in contributing to the blogs of friends.

And there we go, the excruciating first post of any blog out of the way.
